1.Explain why a scanning electron microscope produces more detailed images of cells than a light microscope.

The electron beam hasa smaller wavelength than the light wave, the microscopes can resolve an image that is upto half its wavelength in nano metres, because the electron microscope has a smaller wavelength it is able to resolve images closer together.

2.Give two disadvantages of using a transmission electron microscope.

    They are expensive
    They are very large
    Require extensive training
Specimens need to be specially prepared this takes a long time and training.

Explain why a scanning electron microscope produces more detailed images of cells than a light microscope.

The electron microscope has a much higher magnification aswell as high resolution. The electron microscope works by concentrating a beam of electrons on the specimen. This allows an extremely detailed picture of the specimen.

Give two disadvantages of using a transmission electron microscope.

    They are very expensive
The picture only comes out in black and white not the specimens natural colours
